The short version
A free hobby project. It lists a Steam game's achievements by how rare they are and summarises what players have written about earning them. It is not affiliated with Valve. The steps are machine-written and can be wrong, so the original guide is always linked.
What this is
HowToAchieve reads public Steam data and public Steam Community guides, and presents them in English. There is nothing to buy, nothing to sign up for, and no account to lose.
No affiliation
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Valve Corporation, Steam, or any game developer or publisher. Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks of Valve Corporation. Game titles, achievement names, achievement icons and cover art belong to their respective owners and are shown here to identify the games they describe.
Where the guidance comes from, and why it can be wrong
This is the most important thing on this page.
The steps shown under How is it earned? are not written by this site and not verified by anyone. They are produced by a language model that reads guides written by other Steam players and rewrites the relevant passages in English.
That has consequences worth stating outright:
- They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. A game patch can invalidate a guide, and the summary will not know.
- The original is always linked and its author named. When a summary and the guide disagree, the guide is the source and this page is not.
- Silence is deliberate. When no guide covers an achievement, the site says so rather than inventing steps. An absent answer is a real answer here.
Follow the steps at your own discretion. Nobody here is responsible for a save file, a missed achievement, or hours spent on a route that turned out to be wrong.
Content written by other people
Community guides remain the property of the players who wrote them. This site quotes and summarises passages for the purpose of pointing you at the original, and links back to it every time. If you wrote a guide and would rather it were not summarised here, get in touch and it will be excluded.
Availability
The site is provided as-is and free of charge, with no guarantee that it works, stays available, or keeps any particular feature. It depends on Steam's public endpoints and on a free hosting allowance; either can change or run out without notice.
The step-writing feature in particular runs on a daily allowance. When that allowance is spent, the page falls back to showing the raw guide passages instead, which is a reduced feature rather than a fault.
Fair use of the interface
The endpoints behind this page exist to serve this page. Automated scraping, bulk harvesting, or hammering them is not acceptable use, and the route that invokes the language model is rate limited: too many requests in a short window are refused until the window passes.
The limit is set well above what reading the site looks like. If you hit it while browsing normally, that is a bug worth reporting.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, this site is provided without warranty of any kind, and its author is not liable for any loss arising from its use or unavailability.
Changes
These terms can change; the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the site after that is acceptance of the current version.
